The child dedication service is patterned after what the Bible says parents can do for their children by bringing them to the church to be dedicated unto God. It is what Hannah and Elkanah did for Samuel and what Joseph and Mary did for Jesus (some religions have termed this baptism or christening, but with different significance than indicated by the Bible).  

We have Child Dedication as a part of our worship service twice a year.
